About us
Rain Air Cargo was founded in 2022 as a project spin-off from our asset management partner company, Rockton. Inspired by the growing interest and positive feedback on large cargo drones from airline customers and logistics partners, we shifted our focus to the operational side of drone technology.
To bring this innovative asset to the logistics market, Rain Air Cargo was created with a clear mission: providing cargo drone flight services to logistics companies that enhance their operations.
Since inception, we have been steadily growing our team and organization. As we conduct flights, we continue to gain valuable experience on the integration of drones into various logistics networks and secure new flight approvals by the Austrian aviation authority for our operations.
Our partners
Logistics Company
Collaboration with Kuehne+Nagel started early on in 2021, when large cargo drone usage was first discussed together.
We engaged in close collaboration for a 10-month study on drone usage in 2022, which we extended by another 10 months – jointly working on drone integration and elaborating on use cases.
Drone Manufacturer
Pipistrel was founded in Slovenia in 1989 and has positioned itself as a leading manufacturer for small aircraft, popular among private owners and flight schools.
They have certified 12 aircraft and pioneered the way in electric aviation by having certified the world’s first fully electric aircraft. And are now working on pushing the next frontier and on Europe's largest cargo drone.
Logistics Company
To achieve set project goals, industry insights and support from the logistics industry is key.
We have first presented large cargo drone usage to Lagermax in Sep/2021, based upon we have recently started an integration study with the goal of flight testing with a smaller drone in the Lagermax network in 2024.
Leasing Company
Rockton, a Rain Air Cargo affiliated company, has 25+ years experience in aviation asset management.
To reduce capital investments for future logistics customers and maintain asset flexibility, Rain Air Cargo has partnered with Rockton and will be leasing drones owned and managed by Rockton, providing a leasing solution to Rain Air Cargo customers.
Drone Manufacturer
Phoenix Wings is a German drone manufacturer, having brought two cargo drones to the market.
We have added their Orca drone to our fleet in 2025, which is currently transporting cargo across Austrian skies.
